I say call in. Your sister's wedding is way more important than work. Work will always be there, your sister will only be getting married ONCE in her lifetime, and you will probably regret not being there every step of the way if you don't go...
I'd be so bummed if I missed out on something like that!
Well, it IS a job. But then again, it's not like it's a professional job. And your life certainly doesn't rely on this. If they fire you, so what? You can always get another job. :) You don't like it anyway. ^_^
I think my biggest fear is getting chewed out for it the nex day or over the phone, i have seen it happen. it sucks. but then i think of the reason im skipping and i feel more confident. its not like im staying home or anything. TY for your imput :-) i feel a bit more releived in my decision to skip work :-P
just say to your boss "hey, I asked for the day off for something very important to me that I can not miss. I asked for it off a long time ago and I really expected to have it off. I'm sorry, but I won't be able to make it in that day. I know I have been a good employee and I've always been reliable, but this is an important family event that I just can't miss. I hope you understand." If you say it like that, it should get you out of work without any shit.
