Yeah

All I ever hoped was for honesty, I said we could sort it out any way he wanted so long as I was reassured it would be done properly and not by a chop shop.

Ugh, don't ever trust that anyone is going to be honest when they're in the wrong. Horrible experience.

I just wanted to do the right thing

Help a stranger out so that maybe some day he would pass that on to someone else.

but yeah, given the same circumstances again I would be a lot more cynical.

Wow. Sometimes people just suck. And how crappy of them to turn it on you when you were just trying to be a nice guy and help him out in the first place!

Regardless of the crap situation you're STILL in with your car, you did indeed do the right thing. Now I know that that don't fix cars, but it fixes a lot of other things. More people, well all people, should be this way. There are way too many people like him in this world and it's the few people like you that can give hope. I'm way too trusting too and it always seems to bite my butt in the end of things. It sucks for the trouble you've been through and the future trouble over it as well, but you're a good man, Ali. Don't stop being good.

I hope it all goes quickly and well.
