Bloody Car!

My turbo has gone again! That is almost one a year since I've owned it, and, whilst we promised to keep this car until we run it into the ground, I am starting to wonder at what point you call 'ground zero'?
Any hints?
Given that I've reached that point yet again where I am cross with my car - I'm starting to look for alternatives, I'm even willing  ( Read more... )

I'm after something that will be as cost Neutral as possible with a PX for our current car (an 03 reg Nissan Almeera Turbo diesel SXE) but I haven't had a valuation for it since the second hand car market crashed....I know that doesn't help though!

probably under £5k

Well, for under 5K I got my Peugeot 407 Diesel estate. Quite a good looking car but ticks all those dull practical family boxes. Big back seats to comfortable fit and take car seats and theboot hold a buggy and still has acres of room ( ... )

Suzuki Swift and Fabia are top in my view. Both are cheap-ish. Swifts do come with air con; it's just mine that doesn't!

I'm seriously looking at the swift - both Damo and I are impressed with yours.

I just bought my second Fabia. The other one has done 165K and is still going strong. This one is a baby with just under 40K on the clock and is an 05 reg. It is only 1.2 but does have air con and a really good stereo. Cost me £4,300. Nice to drive, roomy but small if that makes sense and can accelerate up hill at 80 in 5th gear.

With your current car I take it the warranty has run out? is it on finance? if so you may still have some rights as unless the mileage is high there is no reason the turbo should need to be replaced so often

Forgot to mention, the new Fabia does about 360 - 400 miles to the tank (without going into reserve) and I drive fast most of the time, or am stuck in traffic.
