Well, Russia has always been a totalitarian state, nothing new is happening now. The sad thing is that Russia after the fall of the Soviet Union looked like it could actually become a democratic state and expressed that it intends to install the market capitalism and democratic institutions. Nowadays though it is pretty apparent that it all was for nothing and Russia once again becomes a dictatorship via being more and more suppressive police state.
Be safe yonder and keep your head low. Only a massive revolution can change things now.

Good observation, anon! What’s ’bout keepin’ one’s head low, I amn’t a hero, nor am I a coward. So I will protest in any reasonable way. I don’t have illusions it could ever change anythin’ here, but at least, like it was in Valkyrie movie, “We have to show the world that not all of us are like him.”

The world doesn't notice. What they see is the majority of Russian people that support mr. Putin's actions. And make their conclusions about state of affairs in Russia.
Peaceful protests to be perfectly honest don't have any significant impact on the governments in much of the western world either. Only when people take up the arms do they notice. I don't imply you should do this, btw. If a mere protest is risky, why do you bother?

The entire world maybe won‘t, but what the world consists of but totality of single persons? I won‘t let ‘em consider me as a Russian aggressor or occupant. I wanna say, “I‘m not like those 80% of Russians” and not only to say, but prove it with my deeds. That‘s my principle and it‘s what I call a conscience.
