So. The TSA. They are doing some nasty shit right now. Almost the entire internet has an opinion; almost the entire internet thinks they're evil

From Ian: Thank you Ellen, this pretty much covers everything I think about this issue. I would like to add one point, that I think American's unwillingness to accept a safety risk in flying and Republican fear mongering have led to this, but that is a minor point, and more of an opinion. I really appreciate your last section, on being nice to the TSO's. Odds are pretty high they don't want to be doing this any more than you want it done. http://boardingarea.com/blogs/flyingwithfish/2010/11/18/tsa-enhanced-pat-downs-the-screeners-point-of-view/ Making a TSO's life worse because of the pat down is as effective as complaining to a McDonalds employee that the burger you were served is going to make you fat. Thanks again. I hope many people read what you've written, because it's certainly the best things I've seen.

Awww, thanks :)
And yeah, I think you're right about the fear of flying/fearmongering in general. That's an attitude shift that just needs to happen -- cars are more dangerous and we can't get the risk to zero, and we need to stop trying.
I read that link when it was going around facebook -- that's what inspired that section. Some of the comments sound like they want the passengers to pretend they like it, which is never gonna happen, but we can at least not be dicks.
Another reason to hate the new policies is that there's already been incidents of trans people getting harassed and humiliated in public, either when their nude images cause inappropriate outbursts from TSOs, or when they are asked point blank to "remove prosthetics" before a patdown. *HULKSMASH*
Yeah. There's not a good way to prevent people from being outed, and we shouldn't need to out people just to keep terrorists off the planes. Either that, or we live with the fact that some terrorists will get on planes, and we will still be decent people.
TSA catching all the wrong people

You have done a great job of looking at the angles and supporting your position. There is no but coming. Where I assumed that the fourth amendment had not been invoked, you found the existing cases. You are clearly one of the adult leaders now.
If you can't lead, then follow this one, and if you cant follow, lay down and rent your self out as a door mat.
