It's not rude at all! Purim is a Jewish holiday commemorating Queen Esther, who saved the Jews of Persia from genocide in the 4th century BC. You're supposed to celebrate by eating sweets and drinking alcohol and by generally acting goofy and having fun.
It's also pretty much an inherent celebration of awesome women being awesome, because not only is there Queen Esther, but there's also Queen Vashti, who refused to submit to her husband's demands that she dance naked at his party.
BASICALLY IT'S A LOT OF FUN AND A LOT OF SHENANIGANS AND A LOT OF KICK-AWESOME LADIES.
I've still got to find some good hamantaschen, too. The ones I have are... not so good. I'm thinking about making a trek to this Russian bakery that makes really good ones. It's a little out of the way, but it's worth it!

I wonder if any bakeries around here sell them...
Happy Purim! If I were super cool I'd know how to say that in Hebrew, but alas, I am not cool enough.
