I would amend this to: when the going gets tough, I need to spend more time in prayer.....

Sometimes when the going is tough we need to get softer so as to not rely upon our own resources, but let God fill us with Himself and His strength and shine through us.

I am sorry that "the going" is tough, however. I'll pray for you!
