Nice introspection with some really sharp turns of phrase. The Alma arc really did bring the parallels between Allen and Alma and their relationships with Kanda.

Thank you! I tried at first to make it more...fic-like, if you will, but it ended up just "how poetically can I express my feels." I've pretty much always shipped Kanda and Allen, but imo Kanda has to have a pretty intense emotional connection to anyone he'd be shippable with, and--especially after the Alma arc--Allen's parallels to Alma provided that perfectly. It's a lot just the fact that Allen knows and Kanda doesn't seem to care that he knows, because while Kanda's relationship with Alma might not be the huge personal secret fandom tends to make it out to be, I don't think Kanda has or ever would share that information willingly, and yet he's good with Allen knowing. Idk, it just speaks loads about the trust that's developed between them.
