Although I will confess this was probably the least expected thing I'd have imagined to be hearing from you -- perhaps because of my own distance -- I just have to say that I really admire you for confronting the gap between how you feel and how you think you should feel, and without blaming that gap on anyone else.
FWIW before leaving Seattle I was dating for several months one of the sweetest, most intelligent, and thoughtful gay guys I'd ever met (he is also a fantastic veterinarian). I felt really guilty that I wasn't, well, turned on to this guy who was exactly who I thought I was looking for, and I never authentically discussed it with him; we just kinda broke up when I was leaving for Holland.
Anyway, I still look forward to meeting both of you for dinner whether you are partners, roommates or "just" best friends.
