I can't believe I live in a country SO THICK, many of its citizenry can't see the benefit of Universal Health Care. I AM LIVID.

I really think it is less that the citizenry doesn’t see the benefits of Universal Health Care, and much more that we have yet to see the government come up with a feasible plan to make it work, without lowering the overall quality of care or sinking the country even deeper into debt. You know, just because I personally think that the plan as it stands now will, in the grand scheme of things, do more harm than good, it does not mean that I am some ignorant thickheaded buffoon who doesn’t believe everyone should have access to decent health care.

This is from a month ago, I'm just now noting the posts - 'duh'.

I meant literally that there are people who really don't get the Universal Health Care thing. I mean, I hate the current state of what they lobbing around congress too, believe me. Not to worry. I don't think you are thick-headed buffoon, and even if you were, you're the sweetest thickheaded buffoon e-vah! <-- Alice drops to knees, praying emiv has a sense of humour about this (as usual).

Totally! The back stabbing and in-fighting MUST END! Really, it's like the senate/house are paddling furiously but floating backwards.

Yes, that´s amazing for me to no end. I am a lucky girl, living in a country where public support in any way just now starts to be reduced. Because our country "needs" rubbish as interceptors or other idiotic things (high pensions for incompetent politicians for example) ... but still we are happy people where school is free of charge. Public health is common (of course we have a 2 class system - rich people get better health care than poor one, but the poor ones do not have to die, they just are not checked by a professor - sometimes better :-) and a lot of other things do not cost a lot or are free of charge (university for example and and and and).

But when I read about the discussions in the US about the public health care I thought: oh boy - that´s impossible. And this in 2010. Incredible!
