My Snarry Story
There have been some huge goings-on in my fandom life.
As the new Headmistress of Walking the Plank, I look forward to the anniversary with baited breath, and have been helping to plan some fun activities for the celebrations.
I couldn't be more thrilled with the site itself. It really is a credit to all the volunteers.
The snarry_games had a huge weekend, with its renunciation of the O-word. What a lovely community we have! I am amazed at how many people chipped in to make sure the site was not shut down. As always, our fearless leader, djin7, worked tirelessly to make this happen. Thanks much to Leila, reddwarfer, for her timely good humour and hard work. Thanks to coell, who must never sleep! She is a genius with graphics! How did you do it, all of you? Thanks to the many, many volunteers who gave up their Friday and Saturday plans to keep the site whole.
It got me thinking about how I fell into Snarry-land. My girls, dyrim_rings and hobbits_4_me, both read fanfiction. When I was bemoaning the length of time it took for JKR to write the next Harry Potter book, they began telling me about ff.net. Once I started reading stories, my life changed forever. I was frustrated trying to sort stories, so I plugged in my two favorite characters: Harry and Snape. I figured I'd like stories about the two of them. I kept seeing the word "slash" in the description.
"What is slash?" I asked them. "It's when they have a relationship," they said. Not realizing the content, I read on, and I was hooked. I found site after site, story after story, and now, my life is a triangle of family, work and fandom. It truly changed my life.
So...what is your Snarry Story?
I owe thanks to so many people, and it is much, much overdue.

My most overdue thank you is to djin7. Honey, we really are sharing a brain! I enjoy chatting with you every day, and working on our sundry projects together. I never feel alone or overwhelmed, because I know you've always got my back. I don't know how to express how much I value you, each and every day. You are my spooky twin, and I ♥ you. I don't deserve you.
hobbits_4_me and dyrim_rings: thanks for being such wonderful women. I'm proud of you both, every day. Thanks for not turning into felons, and making me wonder where I went wrong. ;) You are women of conscience.
Plus, there's always Mr. Masters, who won't read this unless he looks over my shoulder, but supports me in everything.
