It seems like everyone else is updating their LJs so I should too. The only question is, what could I possibly write about that anyone would care about besides me? I suppose it really doesn't matter if anyone else cares about what I write because it's my journal. So, here goes: I'm tired and I should go to bed. There. That's my update.

If I have a hobby, it seems to be studying weird variants of Catholicism. I found a new one today: Agostino Taumaturgo, who claims to be a bishop and runs a mulit-denominational ministry. When I visit the Catholic blogosphere, I sometimes wonder if I'm from an alternate universe. The First Communion sermon I was privileged to hear three times today seemed like something some of these people would believe could not happen in a modern Catholic parish. I understand why Newt Gingrich could be received into the Church, despite being on his third marriage. Still, I had to laugh at this comment he made when talking about his conversion, “I got into the habit of trying to be a good husband, and would attend the noon Mass to hear [Callista Gingrich] sing.” I hope he stays in the habit!

Monsignor gave a great sermon to the school children today about two ways of looking at today's Gospel. (The Gospel was about the healing of the deaf/mute.) Nick and I were discussing Big Ten sports tonight at dinner. He found the Wikipedia article on the Big Ten on his Droid and mentioned that Notre Dame had thought about becoming the twelfth team in the Big Ten a few years ago.
