Summertime Walk

Jul 11, 2011 19:05

Wow! It has really been a long time since I updated. I thought I would make a photo post of today's early afternoon walk.

There is a small lake about ten minutes walk from our place. It is beautiful in every season, frozen in Winter, full of flowers in Spring, red and golden in Autumn (my favourite), and this is how it looks now:

On our way there we saw a lot of cobwebs on the bushes, it seems to be a good year for spiders.

And here is Mrs Spider waiting in her funnel for any guests to her parlour.

We saw an angry swan herding a group of geese away from some cygnets in the water. The swan didn't let us get close enough for pictures of the cygnets either!

We followed the stream that feeds the lake:

We saw wild apples:

and wild plums:

They were small but delicious.

There are wild flowers all over the place

Everywhere!

We walked to Manor Farm (notice the beautiful thatched roof).

And then up towards the church

This is a closer look of the church tower:

Then we headed back towards the lake:

More wild apples:

And we saw a Great Crested Grebe with her chick:

ETA: 14th July 2011- We got to see the cygnets today:

and also a heron:

I'll try to do a similar post for each season, just to compare the views.
