Soon I will move to Utah.

SIAI does not hate me, nor does it love me, but I am using resources which it can use for something else.

Sorry to hear that. What's in Utah?

A friend who will let me crash on her couch indefinitely for free.

If you're looking for a job and get interviews in the DC area, you're welcome to crash on my couch for up to a week. Not indefinitely. :) However, I'm in easy walking distance to the Metro system, so you could fly in and out of Reagan (DCA). Having moved here two years ago, I'm keenly aware of how much easier it is to find jobs here than in most parts of the country at the moment.

My parents live in Baltimore County, and can serve as a temporary home base if I decide that the DC area is the best place to go hunting, but I need to be in Utah soon anyway - my best friend is getting married.

Sorry to hear your job search in SF didn't work out. Utah gets a lot of flak sometimes, but parts of it are fantastically beautiful. I've got some family out there and I love it every time I go. Where in Utah are you going to be?

I hope you can at least stay around long enough to meet me when I head out to SF next week.

I will be either here or in Berkeley in a week. I leave for Utah on August 13. The friend I'm crashing with lives in Logan, but I'll expect to be in Salt Lake and Provo periodically too to visit other friends.

My interest in becoming a SIAI Visiting Fellow has just dropped dramatically.

::still nursing that Internet crush::

You should visit if you are invited.

You should not move to the Bay Area and expect the long term support of SIAI.

I meant that one of my most important reasons for applying was that I was hoping that I could meet you in person, and now that you're no longer living there, I won't be able to. :(

I'm still here now, and may be here as late as August 13.

Are there any women left in SIAI house?

Anna Salamon is, I believe, still living under the house auspices (although I think she's in the apartment, not the house proper).
