I was really hoping that Thanksgiving was going to be a much needed break for me. In some ways, it was.. but in a lot ways it wasn't. Spending time with my mom on Black Friday was fun. I'm sorry about your family stuff :-( I've never been really close to a lot of my family, so I can't imagine what going through this kind of stuff must be like if you are.

I have been very busy at work and haven't gotten a chance to mail your surprise. I will try my best to tomorrow! :-)

I hardly know what to say. I feel for you; my own grandparents are in good health, for now, but other relatives aren't, and helplessly watching them is difficult. And I know someday -- hopefully not soon, but someday before I'm old myself -- I'll watch my grandparents and my parents go through it. I got a taste of that when I was a kid and Mom had cancer; I don't think it'll be that much easier when I'm that much older.

And I'll echo what Jason said about being there for your mom. I'm sure she needs you now more than ever.
