Greetings, all! Here's my bit of Chapter 6, then. I owe apologies to all the kind people who've commented on my past readings; I really do plan to reply to (and thank) you all, one of these years! Also, gifts for all are forthcoming, hopefully shortly. Many thanks to Ellen for organising this (such fun!), and to everyone who's participating and listening.

Of course the one place that Merry says they shouldn't go is the one place they do go! I'm always struck by that image at the end of your section: 'They were on an island in a sea of trees'.

What a wonderful passage! Hearing it read aloud like that makes me take note of many details I either never noticed or had forgotten about!

I love this description of the clearing--I never had such a clear picture of it in my mind before hearing it in your voice.

They are so lucky to have Merry with them. At least he has some familiarity with the creepy Old Forest, which just keeps getting creepier!
