In a discussion with some very young twenty-somethings who were questioning the validity of ERA and other past women's rights movements, I questioned them about their sports activities. One played volleyball, another basketball, and none of them had heard of Title IX.

When I asked about their experience in home ec or shop, they were surprised --and disbeleiving-- that I had to get my parents' permission and an ok from the school board to take shop instead of my umpteenth home ec class when I was a senior in high school.

I am so glad that those experiences are behind us although I do not feel they are over.

What does amaze me is how things like girls taking industrial arts or women's athletics mainstreamed so fast.

Understanding the Right and responsiblity of free speech, I believe, is the reason.

Keep targeting the cause, bay-bee, and keep the torch burning.

State park yearly membership, or money towards. I also want to get the one for the state forests. I pass so many of these parks when I'm driving, and it would be cool to just stop and walk/jog the short trail or something instead of going to the gym. Sound good?
