Sloth sits at a picnic table as she waits patiently in the small park convienently located within the AVfield and not too far from the Elric Apartments.  It's secluded enough to meet people without being disturbed.  Once more, her clothing is hiding her missing ouroborus.  The part of her that is still truly Sloth refuses to let it be seen, not ( Read more... )

Edward had written her back, a short, somewhat-curt but mostly-polite note agreeing to meet with her, somewhere other than the apartments. He noted a time after he got his arm reattached- like hell he'd have even that much weakness when he approached someone who had proven dangerous in the past.

He also agreed to let Riza accompany him.

Only half of the remains he had of Trisha had been buried by the water main- he had the other half still in the box, which he'd given to Riza to hold. He wasn't going to take any chances on this. Riza would be completely safe as long as that was on her person.

He's silent as he walks over to the picnic table, taking a seat across from Sloth. "I'm not sure I really believe your letter, Sloth," he informs her as he sits, only then looking up at her, "but we're willing to listen. Try anything, and I'm not going to let you go like I did last time."

Riza walked with him, silent and poker-faced, her demeanor grim and reserved. She honestly didn't know what she thought of any of it, and it was a ball in Ed's court alone.

"Oh no" she shakes her head lightly, before looking at Ed "I've had a change of heart. I wouldn't think of harming you now. You've only tried to protect yourself and really I have no reason to be so angry with you. I truly am sorry for hurting you" she glances at Riza "Both of you"

She's sincere in this, there's no hint of a lie at least right now.

Edward doesn't reply right away, silently listening and trying to process what she's saying.

Part of him is afraid to hope this is legit. He paid dearly to create her, to create someone to be their mother and make life okay again, the same part of him that couldn't stomach to listen to Sloth explain what had happened that night back in that warehouse.

Dante had once again stood between him and his family- something he'd never forgiven the woman for.

But, Sloth had proven quite happy to hold onto the grudge that had been instilled in her, and he wasn't stupid.

"Why the change of heart?" he asks, tone quiet and not entirely believing. "Most people, human or otherwise, don't do a total one-eighty in their personality so quickly. Not without outside influence."
