I've been trying to develop a correspondence habit for years but I still haven't managed it.

I seem to have difficulty developing habits in general. For instance, I failed to develop a both a drinking habit and a smoking habit. I (very quickly) developed a highly appreciative taste for both, but alas no habit. No poetic self-destruction for me. Sigh.

LOL! Call 'em bad habits = 'habads'. Nietzche would understand. Beyond good and evil. All that good neuromuscularity and outsideness are hagoods. Doesn't have the same ring.

Teach yourself good habits and you're virtuous by default. Or if you're a declared a saint in a seismically active area.
