Thank you, Ali... the last paragraph of this entry deals with some of the exact same things that a lot of us are dealing with too... I wonder if you would let me put that quote in a post for my livejournal..? I would give you full credit of course... I just think that a lot of my friends would like to read that. It's definitely thought provoking.
Until recently, I have only thought of the forest I've cleared away or the one surrounding me, but never what lies ahead. It is only in these past few months that I have given any serious thought to my future. For so long, dreams, hopes, desires, wishes or whatever other moniker I can define with have been mere reflections of what others would like to see in me.
Worries, doubts and the like still present themselves, but much less frequently now that I have developed a moment-to-moment mentality. I have a vague direction on which to follow, but I let life guide me there on its own. After all, it goes on without my input.
Your paragraph on being unhappy and having never known sounds a lot like what I feel right now. I've always been the optimist; the one with the hope. Yet in all this time I've spent pleasing others, I've forgotten to take care of myself.
May introspection be our guide. Here's to a journey we can all look back on and laugh.
I know exactly what you mean about being the optimist! I always thought it was a healthy thing to be, but now I'm realizing that sometimes it causes me to repress things that I really should face instead.
Your moment-to-moment mentality is the way to go...
