Looks beautiful! That is definately a plus about California, so many different types of terrain to experience and the weather is mild enough to camp 3/4 of the year.

I was at the very southern tip of the Sierra Nevada Mtn. range in Sequoia National Forest. It's only about 200 miles NE of here (LA). It's at about 6000 feet elevation and the forest has various pine, oak, dogwood, and Sierra Redwoods. I highly recommend it as a camping spot.
