I've started writing project #3 now, though this one I'm already about 15% through. I'm trying the short story format again, which I feel i'm pretty horrible at. My aim is a "going home" story about 15000 words long.
Just enjoy that you're enjoying writing it. I wouldn't worry too much about plot pacing until you've got the plot out of your head and onto the screen/hard disk/whatever. It's easier to look back and see where you can cut stuff than to try doing it on the fly.
I learned to ride and my basic m/c mechanics on a BSA D1 Bantam. Part of why I love classic cars/bikes is the way they let you bodge stuff instead of having finicky tolerances - essential for post-apocalyptic stories. :)
Yep - exactly why I used the old BSA... the tolerances were looser, and it's got a kick-start (which is kind of impressive on a 750 triple, honestly). You could get away with things like converting their fuel types and starting it up without a working battery. No computers is a good thing when you're dealing with a very limited civilization. ;)
