Seat position is a big thing, but my last few cars have been 'donations' passed on by my parents after they've up-graded their towing car. I shan't be taking the last one, Peugeot 307, as I really hate the driving position and the whole feeling of distance from the car itself. The current one, Peugeot 405 diesel estate is 19 years old, 200k on the clock and still going strong.

I do tend towards large estate cars (station wagons) that I can just shove stuff in the boot of and load stuff on the roof of. The best motorcycle transporter I've had (of small and classic bikes) was a 2-series Volvo estate. It also swallowed an entire Triumph Herald bonnet/wing assembly. Tit-for-tat, the Herald transported a replacement Volvo engine from the scrap yard when the 245 blew a hole i its block. ;)
