so this has been a long time coming. it isn't for a class or anything, just me trying my hand at a nonfiction piece on my own. comments appreciated, especially about the order of the three sections.

First off, I really enjoyed this on a personal level, I remember you mentioning how much you hated Goofy once and feeling like it was more than just "Goofy", you know? It was nice to get that exploration and such ( ... )

I confess, I don't really like Goofy either. But if I had to choose Goofy or Donald I'd choose Goofy. But that probably comes with certain life experiences. I'd choose Goofy because I need that optimism. To be around someone who thinks everything will be ok...that right will triumph over wrong and we'll get a happily ever after. Because we all know that the world doesn't work that way ( ... )

well none of the standard disney characters would be healthy, because they're archetypes. they don't really have "narratives" through which we see them grow. mickey and friends are always making the same mistakes, each of them their own special kind, and not learning from them. this as opposed to the modern disney character like, say, little john, who is a richer, more complex character ( ... )

It is surprising how much thought you've given this. I suppose that when something stumps you one can't help but analyze and analyze until it's figured out and understood. Proving that people are more complex than the base Disney characters...^_^
