well, kansas is fun, but hot. like the rest of the country right now i imagine. it was a sticky 105 yesterday, the perfect weather to be wandering around the praprie with a newborn in--not!! however, the only time we have been spending outside with the baby is walking to and from the car.
on thurdsay, the day we got to see my cousin, his wife, and the baby for the first time, we went to lunch at a barbecue place (i had salad) and then played indoor putt putt. then we cooked out once it had cooled down, and played apples to apples and hilbilly golf.
for those of you who don't know what hillbilly golf is, it is also called ladderball. you have two stuctures made of PVC pipe that are like three rung ladders that have a base which allows them to stand up. you also have two golf balls attached to each other with a string to make a bolo. you throw the bolos at the ladder and try to get it to wrap around the rungs. bottom rung is one point, top rung is two, and middle is 3. you play to 21, but there is also a way to take away points from your opponent(s). the neighborhood in which my cousin lives has tons of dogs, and as we were playing, a weimeraner came and was generally friendly and let us pet him. then he ran away. i go to take my turn, throw my bolo, and the dog FLIES PAST ME and TAKES IT! just snaps it up off the grass and runs! my cousin gave chase but the dog was long gone. luckily the dog went home eventually and the owner brought the game piece back.
yesterday we went to a mongolian restaurant and walked around the mall. brittany got one of those puches to strap on your chest and carry the baby in. then we ordered pizza and played uno (we are a game family, if you can't tell). today we are going to cook out for lunch to finish all our stuff and then go bowling. we were hoping that the pool would be ready for us but now it isn't because they are repainting it and the guys are going super slow because they get paid hourly.
one thing i must say is that it is frustrating to be on a trip in a hotel room with three politically conservative people. i am so sick of hearing my grandfather make racist jokes about obama and my aunt's boyfriend acting like he knows shit about shit. actually, stacy just tends to annoy me in general (that's my aunt's boyfriend). he looks like the beast from beauty and the beast (no joke, i will take a photo and put it onn here), and he's just a complainer and doesn't like to take respnsibility for his actions. a buck passer. no bueno with me, i'm all about responsibility. le sigh. and with MJ dying, it's all been making fun of him too, which upsets me because i had a lot of respect for him. i liked it better when we were making wizard of oz jokes.
three square meals a day is weird! i'm used to eating maybe--MAYBE--two big meals a day, and drinking literally nothing but water. now i am eating way more and all my family drinks is pop. today i am not going to drink any pop, because i drank some yesterday at lunchand it has made me feel really gross. luckily a lot of what i have been eating at restaurants has been salads, so that isn't too bad for me. it isn't as if i'm worried about getting fat, but my body is going to rebel at such a quick change in my habits.
i had a job interview before i left and i really really hope something comes through. they were interviewing all last week, and are supposed to be in touch this week. i would be so excited if i came back to chicago with a job!!! i am going to have to take something less than ideal soon because i have to start making money so that i can go to pennsic/ live my lovely life.
well, i am gonna go get some breakfast. hope all is well with everyone.
