Another Thursday, another blitzed happy hour with the work crew. Except that this was was perhaps a little too close to work, ie. actually took place within the maze of cubicles, but just with the lights off and wine and .... karaoke! My advice, talk to Jan who will tell you about her experience so far in med school or she can put you in touch with various med school students if you want a more wholistic view. Mind you, it would only be wholistic of UCSF, but that should at least be a start. Med school is a long hard road, but that doesn't mean it is without merit or accomplishment or whatever. Personally, it is too long a wait for someone as impatient as I am (school + internship + residence + boards + a few other things I've forgotten = doctor). If you want to teach English, I heavily recommend the JET Programme, which is the best program for teaching English in Japan (pays well too). Jim informed me that China is always looking for foreign teachers.

Best of luck.

thanks jonah! You're right, I would love to talk to Jan. I should get her number/email if you think she'd be cool with that. And the English teaching thing just seems like "duh"--you know? like okay, so you want to go abroad, you don't have any marketable skills but you speak English: Done, job, go. I should've done it right after college instead of dicking around in the states pretending to be serious, but whatever. I guess it's not too late now...!?
