This presidential race is largely *not* about gender/racial politics, and if you caught me at a different time, I would not even bring them up. But I have been so overwhelmed today I want to scream and I feel personally assaulted because of my own gender.

I don't feel the need to vote for Hillary Clinton simply because she's a woman. But I am ( Read more... )

AMEN.

I saw her speak for Kerry in 04 and when I heard she was running for 08 I knew she was who I wanted in the office. Obama is great, don't get me wrong, but it's going to take more than "uniting" the country to get the job done. I fully believe that Hillary has the ability to not only unite the nation but to put solid plans into action. She's my girl and I want her in the office. :D

Look at you, supporting the establishment candidate! Remembering our fights about Dean, it surprises me a little. But it's such a different race this time, so you can't really compare them.

I think it is pretty darn cool that Hillary IS the establishment candidate - even though I won't be voting for her.

I just saw your note on Facebook. My comment above is just me teasing you - not actually trying to give you crap about it. I can see both sides of the argument on this one, and understand why people want to vote for Hillary. I'm just going the other way.

I think it's ridiculous that she's the "establishment" candidate. I mean, I understand that she's better known and has been "around" politics longer. But it's spun as though she's not proposing anything new. She's proposing a hell of a lot more change than he is in terms of actual policy. He just wants us to change how we talk to each other. The rest is negotiable.

lol. I know you're just teasing. I just cannot stand all this election coverage. It drives me crazy every day no matter whether I'm watching CNN or listening to NPR.

LOL then stop watching CNN and listening to NPR! I consume shockingly little news outside of my work hours. Ever since I graduated, I've wanted to keep as much distance as possible from anything reminding me of school.

I consider Hillary the establishment candidate because she is supported by the Washington establishment. Yes, Obama has some establishment people behind him too, but from what I can tell personally, all the behind-the-scenes people who have been around forever are supporting Hillary. The only political person I know over 40 who is supporting Obama is my former boss, and he's a professor so he doesn't publicize it.

I think this is a good point. America needs a change. And a black/woman leader would be a great thing for America. But I don’t think its a reason do vote.

The vote must be made for the right person, if that happens to be a black man, or a woman that’s a plus.

Cos lets face it, Thatcher was/is a woman, I would not vote for her. And mogarby is black, but he would never get my vote.

All too often I see that in politics people vote for the image of the leader and not the party or polices that, that leader represents. And that how we end up with smiling sweet old lady loving tossers like bush and Blair and Howard. Two down, one to go!
