Oh, by the way, I have a list of taboo words that I will absolutely not accept in a conversation with me or in anything that is said about me. As a matter of fact, it is very likely that if I hear any of these words I actually will vomit all over the person saying them. I will circulate this list more widely, but for now I will compose it here ( Read more... )

what's wrong with "nesting" ? It actually does hit one like a train, once you're ready to pop (is that thing on the list, too???)

:P

"pop" is definitely on the list. I will add it right now.

I think the word "nesting" is moldy and smelly and filled with little insect carcases and cobwebs.

I have re-organized many drawers and cleaned up things here and there (not to mention my new reign of terror in the classroom :)) but I do think there less icky words to use :)

Let me put it this way. What you have right now is common sense, it's not nesting ;) and even if it's super bright with a new coat of paint and metallic accents, it's still a nest :P

What words do you prefer?

ZOMG. Since up to now I did not even know of the existence of such terms, maybe I'll just pretend I never saw them, unless an emergency strikes :)

I hadn't really thought about it either until I encountered my in-laws.

My "in-laws" ( we're not actually married) are Israeli; so no kitchy bullshit from them :))

My dearest Prego Queen of the Preggers International! Your expected bumpy baby bump, when bundled for joy in a the popping nest, will put other motherhoody wannabes right there, where they surely belong -- with other bunnies in the oven! Rejoice! Aaaargh!

That's two sentences, though, sorry :)

Mmmmm so I guess no "muffins" in the "oven" for u!

I must admit, at first I did completely agree with you and thought that the whole world had gone mad the minute they found out I was pregnant and switched to a new, more idiotic, vocabularly all of a sudden. And yes, they wanted to touch my belly too.

But then, by my second, I realized that it's like a small light bulb or a microbe that triggers people's brains and it's hard for them to do anything about it... That included all the dumb advice i got ( jUst wait, you will get so much more.... From people that you thought are much more reasonable!!!), deffffff the vocab.... Ugh.

All I did, is my own research, formulated my opinion about everything and stuck to it. The only thing i would accept from people, especially at the end when i was so fed up with hearing "wisdom" coming from abso-f*cking-lutely everywhere, is an advice on a book - about parenting. That's it.

Good luck darlin!!!!!!!! I love u!

Let me know if u need anything at all :)

Pol'kin,

A lot of this post is a big joke. Obviously I could care less what words people use or what kind of advice I get. And the way people act differently around pregnancies, I think, is a primordial instinct, and I am awed to be around it. So that's all good.

As far as advice from YOU - YES. And emphatic YES.I love the way you did things with your childrens. I am not giving birth at home though, as tempted as I am to consider it (at least not the first time around)but I am going to a birthing center or the equivalent thereof. So if you're in town at the end of May - you should come and help me give birth :))))) No pressure though :))) Also, I want to know all about your insane feeding and pumping adventures, and whatever else you think might come in handy.

Oh wow, Aliska, that will be a great honor. I would absolutely love to be there!!!!!!!

Birth center is a fantastic choice - I did it with Lyudka and want to do it with Jordan, but was unable to find a good one in NYC and that's why the home birth happened with Yashka....

As far as advice - girl, I will tell u everything i know... Let's talk sometime?

Love
