Not sure what you mean... Strollers and car seats are ok and free on any flight. You live them at the plane door, and pickup when leaving the plane. No special bags necessary.

I see. For some reason I was thinking of checking the car seat in with regular luggage, and checking the stroller in at the gate. My concern about the stroller is whether it gets banged up in the baggage compartment, or is it safe and stationary.

Yes, car seat you can check in with regular baggage, but free of fees.

Stroller at the plane door. It'll be on the top of the luggage, and shouldn't be a problem.

we have a stroller (even two!), a car seat (but I think it's for a larger baby, 22-40 lb) and a play yard looking smth like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cosco-Playard-Pack-N-Play-Playpen-Traveling-Funsport-Baby-Gear-Kids-Travel-NEW-/150860327091?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item231ff9e8b3#ht_695wt_1139

I guess we'll bring our own stroller, and I'll be in touch about the play yard. I think we already have two lined up :) hope to see you while we are in SF!

All a two to three month old baby needs on a flight is a boob and may be a nursing necklace. Take an adequate diaper/wet napkins/change or two of clothes supply on board, and you're all set. Try to put her on your boob on take off and landing, it's hard to time though (swallowing helps to relieve ear pressure).

Strollers and carseats can be gate checked before boarding, you get them when you disembark. If there is an extra empty seat in your row, you can bring the carseat onboard, with a small baby it can be very useful.

We have a rocker-bouncer, it's boxed, must be at the same place as crib. But several diff. kinds of bouncers can be useful -- my babe wouldn't spend more than 15 min in one, I had two and it was useful.

Also, I did tag along a bag with some baby toys and some cardboard books that I read to g., not sure it was super-useful at 2 mo, but it does give the adult something to do.

A, da, a couple of cloth diapers+ a couple of clean swaddling sheets and a changing pad are of course also a must. Some airlines are so lame, they don't have changing tables in their bathroom, besides, they're so super-uncomfortable, I did seat changes for a looong time.

You don't need much.... A stroller bag I'm not sure is going to protect the stroller if it's going to get destroyed. There is always a chance it will happen, but usually everything turns out to be fine.

Our stroller was fine when it went through gate-check, no bag or anything. I did put a bungee cord around it, but that's because Maclarens have this weird one-sided closing mechanism. What was a great idea was for one of the parents to get off the plane with the rest of the crowd, pick up the stroller and unfold it, while the other parent waits with the kid for the crowds to clear. We took a sling with us, but never used it because dealing with gate-check was pretty easy. Didn't take a car seat, but it was useful to bring a regular pillow on board - either you or the kid can use it to sleep on and get a bit more comfortable. Having one of the adults in the window seat helped, too, but then you have to have a cooperative passenger or an empty seat in the aisle.
