Oh my goodness...I am so, so sorry for the loss of your kitty.
You have gone through a lot of pet loss lately, that is very, very hard. I hope you're doing okay, I'd be a wreck.

I'm okay. Surprisingly detached. Just grieving the past, the life he shared with us, more than anything. We were afraid we were going to lose him two years ago and he hung on this long, so that is good. And I didn't have to make the decision for the third time in just over two months, which would have really wracked me. Ugh.

Gosh, I'm sorry. That's rough, Alison.

Dispassionately, I can say that it must have been hard for him without his buddy--that a fast, albeit shocking death is better than a horrible, slow decline--and rainbow bridge, blah blah blah.

But the absence of your furry friends must be profound. I hope that--after what feels like an emotionally acceptable timeframe to grieve and reflect--you can find some new animals to love and be loved by. They will be so very lucky to have you all as a family.

Big hugs.

I'm definitely glad I didn't have to make a life-or-death decision again. And since Otis's death (it may have started just before) he'd taken to "mowing" the fur on his hind legs, just obsessively licking. So things weren't quite right in his little kitty world.

I'm pretty sure there will be a puppy in our future. It's kind of scary though. It's a lot of responsibility to take on. But I can't take much more of this empty house.
