Grrr. Why are some people such bastards? Seeing as the house stank of wet carpet and I couldn't sit down because the settee was wet (the carpet cleaners also did the suite), I went over to Mum and Dad's for a bit. I parked outside the block of flats as I always do, and as several other people'd done: it's a wide road with plenty of room for cars ( Read more... )

Oh no! How horrible.

I have one wing mirror with the casing held in place by tape, and bought a self-adhesive mirror to stick into it (it can't be moved from the lever inside the car, but it does the job), which is a lot cheaper than having it fixed properly if that's any help?

I had to order the right size mirror from the motor-shop near work, but I think it cost £6something, compared with the £90 something I was quoted for new casing etc.

I'll see what the garage say - if I can get hold of one tomorrow! It's just so annoying: it's the second time my car's been damaged by another driver who's then just driven off and not even left a note!

That is awful - I couldn't drive off like that. And actually it's paid off - the first time I scraped a car I was writing a note when the driver returned to the car and she said 'have you seen the state of this - don't worry about it'. The other time (which is when I did my wing mirror) I knocked on the door of the house the car was outside and they told me the mirror was cracked anyway. So neither claimed against me and I didn't end up feeling guilty forever about it!

I don't spend all my time damaging other cars, btw!
