I love imagining the look on her face when he does that! XD I didn't write it in because I thought, OMG, the imagination is just so much better. LOL I'm glad you liked it!
I pictured it as this "bitch, please" kind of look with really highly raised eyebrows. Lol. I imagine that Alice has a really good "bitch, please" look.
Well, tea comes caffeinated, too! XD Besides, gut instinct tells me that Hatter would hate coffee, if not on principle than on taste. Coffee is definitely one of those things a person has to get used to... that's what college is for. XP
Of course, I'm speaking from the opposite side of the bench -- I'm a coffee person, through and through. I mean, just take "Foam" for Exhibit A... and almost everything I write is either written, edited, or both in a coffee shop. ^_^;; Ah, the Pacific Northwest, born and bred... I'm just a walking cliche.
“I don’t need cocoa, I have tea.” Hatter said, his voice clearly indicating some frustration that Alice didn’t understand this concept. “Why would you have a need for one over the other?” -- I sense a challenge for Alice to get some down his throat now.
“What if… you run out of tea?” Alice asked, eyebrows raised in challenge. Hatter considered himself an adventurous man, but this conversation was just ridiculous."
Wow. How do you get his mentality down so perfectly and so humorous. Just...WOW.
Haha, I'm glad you liked it. XD I love getting in Hatter's head, the way he sees the world is just so different from any other character I've tried to write. ^_^ He's a hoot and a holler, as my Mom would say...
Sorry about the horribly late reply -- I don't always have internet on a consistent basis. ^_^;; In any case, Alice/Hatter are just MADE for one-shots, they're so much fun to write. ^_^ Thank you so much for dropping a note to say you liked it!

*cough* Of course, if it was me, I'd probably trying to convert him to coffee. And wouldn't that be fun, a jittery, overly-caffeinated Hatter.
...hmm...
