I especially love the part about the guy offering to remove the marks - although I can't help but mention that to get the tattoos removed completely would take a small eon of treatments.

Well, not an eon. But yes, I do now that it would take several treatments over many months. That's why Alice was surprised by his generosity.

Thank you! ^_^ It came from a personal place, as most stories do -- I myself have a tattoo and find that I have to defend it often, so I sort of took that experience and extrapolated it to something bigger, and this is what happened! ^_^ I'm glad you liked it so much! <3
