A strange, deathly silence had fallen over the house on Benedict Street over the past few days. Three days, to be exact, three days since Anthony had told Kim his plans, that he had made them safe, but with that flourish was finished with spying for good. Nothing had happened since, he hadn’t heard a word on the subject since from anyone. Now it ( Read more... )

He had looked so content. He had spoken with a hint of pride even. The one thing about this country of ours is that we have a royal family who are loved and cherished by all. Nothing can be allowed to tarnish their image. Windsor cosying up to Adolf? The nation couldn't bear it. The Duke and the Fuhrer cheek to cheek? It would break our collective heart.

It was a brilliant idea, there was no denying that. And perhaps the only thing proving the worthiness of Royal Family connections. Guy long ago stopped caring whether he was purposefully ignored or unnoticed. If he wanted to be noticed, he would be. “Kim just left and during the whole afternoon he spend here the extent of your entire conversation was a dull hello from him and an acknowledging nod from you, after which you came here and he walked into the living room. Considering that moment of sheer friendship and love, I’d like to know if there’s anything wrong?” He said plainly, while his eyes trailed along the room, taking no real notice of anything there.

"Then why don't you ask Kim?" The reply was light and sharp. Damn it all, why hadn't Kim said anything? Why was did the task have to be left to him? Anthony would honestly have rather delt with an enraged Guy after the fact than this... this damn scene that lay before him.

And so he stalled.
