[She smiles fondly, making her way along the edge of the party to the snack table. She's got a red plastic cup in one hand, and she leans against the table to watch the dancing and goings-on, looking entirely amused by the proceedings.

She loves a good party. Just a shame she didn't have any bananas to bring.]

[He can see her from where he stood. Rin wanted to join in the festivities, but he was as unsure as any other kid his age in a new place. He had his tail carefully hidden but there was no masking the other, more obvious features but he didn't care.

The blonde woman (was she American? English?) seemed nice enough. He still wasn't sure if he should approach her so casually. Maybe he'll just watch from a safe distance or something... Nah, that was boring. This was a party. He was doing something.

So with that in mind, Rin approached the blonde woman and raised his hand in greeting.]

[Rose, for her part, hadn't really been paying attention to anybody in particular, just darting her eyes along the crowd looking for a familiar face, amused by the shenanigans.

At least, until she was approached. She'd been about to take a drink, but stopped with the cup half-way to her lips and raised her other hand to return the gesture.]

Yo!

[She replied, grinning a bit, knowing full well how awful the slang sounded coming from her accent.]

[He hadn't noticed her accent much, if at all. What he did notice was that she was much prettier up close. She looked almost like a friend he knew back home. He stopped before her, offering a sharp-toothed grin of his own.

He hoped it wasn't obvious that he was used to being the odd one out. People usually knew who he was by reputation or mild association so this was a nice change of pace. But he grins right back, trying to feel at ease.]

Have you been here long?

[Rose has always been friendly, and very good with meeting people, so if she noticed any sort of hesitancy or nervousness around him, she didn't acknowledge it. Just tilted her head as she thought, smiling all the while.]

Well, that's a bit complicated. They tell me I've been here already, but as far as I can remember, it's only been a few days. Woke in a hospital and nearly got my face ripped off.

What about you? Are you from here?

Your face? What did you fight it off with?

[She was very nice... and incredible tough to apparently not freak out about waking up with a face-ful of demon. While she only reminded him of his friend in looks, he was still drawn to that kind personality of hers. Rin's smile grew a little bigger.]

No, I'm from Japan. I woke up in a hospital too, but there wasn't anything in the room I stayed in. After I got out, I found a friend and we've been helping out each other since. [All the awesome teamwork~. It helped that his friend was a cool sort of guy.] I'm Rin Okumura, by the way.

[She grins sheepishly.]

A heart monitor and a mop? To be fair, though, mostly I just holed up in a supply closet until reinforcements came.

[She furrowed her brow. It hadn't really occurred to her that with the absence of the creepy fog monsters, the hospital might not be such a bat place to be. Well, that's good, at least not everyone had to fight their way out of that place. She held out a hand.]

Nice to meet you, Rin. I've been loads of places, but never to Japan. Always heard it was nice, though, I might go once we get outta here.

[WTH LADY.]

With just those? I had my sword to fight off those demons - [he indicates to the one he's has slung across his back] - but swords are meant for fighting. You're just like Bowtie -- Matt! He fights with a screwdriver! And he's traveled too! [WHY SO MANY COOL PEOPLE... Rin is in awe. So much awe.]

Japan's a cool country. The beaches are great and the seafood is even better. [Shush, those are the parts he likes.] It's nice to meet you too ... uhm. Miss?
