[Dinah's been busy the last week, as anyone passing by her shop in the market district could tell. Her shop had been mostly left alone in the raids since it sold nothing but clothes, but it had still gotten a fair amount of damage, both from the monsters and random fighting ( Read more... )

[Rin's walking all over town, familiarizing himself with the various shops and their keepers. He wasn't sure how important money would be in this world, but it wouldn't hurt to maybe look for any 'help wanted' ads. Not that he would actually care about filling one out. . .]

[The clothing shop wouldn't have been his first choice for a part time job, but it seemed decent enough. At least it was clean and the owner was a girl. That was occasionally a good thing.]

Yo! [Cool, calm, casual. That's how he works. ...Sometimes. Damn, wait, that's not how you speak to a future manager--]

-- Good afternoon? [It was afternoon, right? He takes a quick look outside - yeah. Afternoon. ...Or maybe early morning. Damn. O-Oh well.]

[Well, it's not like Dinah knows a whole lot about being a manager anyway. Or being professional. All she cares is that she remembers him from her question about killing monsters more effectively.]

Hey.

[She stops sweeping and leans on her broom.]

[Sadly he doesn't recognize her just yet. Give him a moment or twelve. Her casual attitude does put him at ease, however.]

You need any help?

[Eyebrow raise.]

For today? Or are you asking for a job?

[R-ROFL...]

Anytime you need help! [He's just looking for something to do when he's not training...] ...We met somewhere before?

I wouldn't be able to pay you much.

[Y'know, just as forewarning. Because she hasn't said no yet and looks like she's seriously thinking about it. But then comes the question, and she looks more thoughtful than anything else.]

I made a post on the network a little while back asking for faster, better ways to kill the monsters. I think you might've been one of the people who responded...?

That's okay. I'm not expecting much.

[If he has to work for free for a little while, he wouldn't mind. He'd do his best not to destroy her little store! At her words, he finally remembers where he's heard her voice before.]

Yeah, I remember that! It was anti-climatic. [Just another word he's managed to pronounce in an odd way.] Dinah, right?

[Might be more than a little while - the only thing that keeps her from being in the red all the time is the tailoring side of things.

[She ignores his mispronunciation - she's had friends who were worse at English.] Yup. And you're... [give her a second to place the name] Rin?

Right! I knew you sounded familiar!

[While Aliunde was as alien a planet as it could get, Rin was still happy to know there were a few people he could recognize. ...There was something he had to know before he committed to the job completely. It wouldn't affect his decision much, if at all.]

What do you do around here?

[She can't help but smile -his leaping without looking attitude actually reminds here a lot of Vincent- but it quickly morphs into an embarrassed grin.] A lot of tailoring, mostly. And I take requests for custom clothes. I make some things to sell, but they're... not to very many peoples' taste. [She gestures.

All the stuff on display inside is very Goth, with a distinctly Victorian bent. Not exactly something a whole lot of the population would be into.]

[Looking at the merchandise brought to mind those lolita girls he's heard about that populate larger cities. He knew he didn't see many (if any) lolita girls in his home town.

He wasn't sure how he could help her around the store... He takes a closer look at some of the items.]

Let's make them sellable. [Makes complete sense to him!]

[And she just lets him. Not at all worried about the merchandise being damaged.]

Like how? [And she is genuinely curious about how he plans to do that.]

['Like how' she asks... He hadn't thought that far ahead, but here goes nothing!. Rin puts some distance between himself and the merchandise to give her his attention.]

A model? People like to see clothes on a life-sized display. [It didn't matter to him since a shirt was a shirt and so on, but he noticed girls liked mannequins.]

Hmm... [She glances around the store. Yeah... some things would have to be moved, but she does have room for a few more mannequins.]

Only problem would be wear to find them. But maybe the junkyard...

[That's only half directed at Rin -mostly she's talking to herself- but he's welcome to chime in.]

[Admittedly, checking at a junkyard isn't high on his list of things to do. It was better than handling cow manure (which was still pretty bad and also on a list of things he'd rather not do again...). Besides, he wasn't about to let her do that all on her own. Imagine the heavy-work!]

I can check the junkyard for some.
