She could have done the same thing inside, nice and warm, but the snow is still a novelty to her and from her view on the bench she can see people walking by. She tugs on a wire, pulling it loose as she glances out at the ones shuffling by and wondering what stories they all have. ]

That is a large box of scrapped things, amico. Are you planning to make something in particular?

An' what's "amico"?

Amico means friend, just a nice thing to call someone.

Oh. Well that's real nice of ya. It sounds like such a real fancy language too. Amico [ Way to go mister. ] I'm Kaylee. [ She holds out her hand but belatedly realizes it's all dirty and her smile turns more sheepish than cheery. ]

[He smiles more at that and nods faintly.] It is Italian. I am from Italia. [He takes her hand anyway. He's held dirtier hands in the past.] Salve, Kaylee. I am Ezio. [He nods to the box again.] What are you making?

This? I don't got a clue. [ She laughs. ] But I think it'll be somethin' good. Right now I'm just seein' what I got. Like this- [ She holds out the part in her hands to show him. ] all I see wrong with it is this bit in here. [ She pokes a finger in one side, which really is the worst looking side upon closer inspection. ] Bit of burnt wirin', probably went an' spooked someone an' they junked this. But all the rest of this - the metal, these other wires what don't go through that particular bit of circuitry - all of it's usable. I just gotta pick it off.

You are... very enthusiastic about your work. It shows talent. You would do well if someone were paying you for all of your efforts.

[ She shrugs slightly, all smiles. ] I've always liked doin' this kinda stuff. Ever since I was real small an' my pa had to go pullin' me outta things. 'fore this place snatched me up I was gettin' pay for keepin' Serenity flyin'. When there was pay to give.

[He smiles right back.] You have a great enthusiasm. If I were to show you designs, would you be able to craft them? Or improve upon them?
Reply
Oh I could. I go improvin' stuff all the time on Serenity when times are slow ... or I gotta work 'round not havin' the proper parts. [ Coming from her it's just a cheerful telling of the truth, not bragging. ] ... designs for what?

Come with me, and I will show you. [He offers his hands for the box.]

[He leads her to his apartment and once he's there he sets the box down safely aside, moving to where he keeps the book Sofia gave him. One of the first things he did was redraw all of Altair's designs.]
Sit, make yourself comfortable, amico.
