[ The weekend means that there are no classes for Charles to conduct, unless a student needed extra tutoring. He usually devotes them to helping the Avengers - seeing as he is now a member of their team - but he does manage to find himself some time in the late afternoon to himself. As opposed to reading or something that a stuffy old man would do

[ Kaylee's just walking along, backpack bouncing slightly against her, when she catches some movement out of the corner of her eye. It's low so that's where she looks to see ... a ball. She hardly hesitates before stooping down to pick it up, straighten, and see who its owner is. The person her eyes fall on makes her smile brightly. ]

Kaylee. It's certainly been some time. [ He smiles at her and nods. ]

It sure has. How are ya feelin'? [ She makes her way closer, ball held in her arms. ]

I could be far better. Yourself?

[ Her cheerful smile falters a bit. ] Are ya still hurtin' from the attack? Ya look real good right now. [ All alive and not practically drowning in blood. ]

I'm doin' real good ... still trapped in some city no one's heard of. But everything's shiny. I went an' got myself groceries yesterday. [ Yes. This is major. Real food is always relevant. ]

Oh, far from that. Those wounds have healed.

[ He nods. ] You're adjusting then.

Shiny. I was hopin' ya weren't still hurt from that.

[ Nod nod. ] Seems like the thing to do 'til the crew finds us all. [ She tosses the ball up a little bit a few times. Nothing major. ] So what's really buggin' ya professor ... don't got someone to play with? I'll play with ya.

It's not quite that, Kaylee. Although I could use a partner.

Well if ya ever feel like talkin' 'bout it I'll listen. I can even bring ya tea. [ It's what she knows from the ship. Someone feels down? Make tea and lend an ear. ]

's that so? So how good are ya?

[ Charles smiles. He thinks he needs something than tea. ]

Fine, given the circumstances.

Oh that's not much at all! [ She smiles as she sets her bag down out of the way. ]

The circumstances being that we are being held captive.

We got each other. An' there ain't a protein pack in sight.

Some would argue it's good. It means we have more of a variety.

Just so long as that variety don't got a protein pack I need to go beatin' into somethin' edible. Though I got real close to somethin' chocolaty once.
