Private video to Loki | Action for Tony Stark

Apr 01, 2012 09:47

[Thor's message to Loki is recorded in the gardens of Avengers House and he looks tense and unsettled, despite being surrounded by the rather relaxing trees in the gardens. He sighs, trying not to look so ruffled, but he is irritable and stressed.]Brother, I have a question, if you will answer it for me. I do not expect a response if you are still ( Read more... )

[Tony runs into Thor a little bit later and wishes he hadn't. Thor's looking pretty scary.] Hey, you okay?

No. I would have words with you, Stark. [He clenches his fists, crossing his arms over his chest.]

[Oookay, Tony is very uneasy about this now. Pretty much the only thing stopping him from running the other way is the fact that'd make him look incredibly guilty of whatever Thor wants to talk about.] What's up?

I spoke with Loki. [He scowls at Tony then, and barely manages to keep himself from grabbing him, dropping his arms to his sides. He does close the distance, however, intent on backing him against a wall.] You lied to me, and betrayed me. You tried to blame Natasha for something you did against me.

[Yeah running away was looking like a really good idea right now. But all he can really do is move backwards and hope Thor doesn't just run him over or something.] I can explain.

[He falls silent for a moment before admitting:] All my excuses are really shitty.

[More than anything? Thor is hurt, not angry. He trusts Tony and that this happened really does hurt. He's been lied to too much and too horribly to be able to take it well.] Explain then. I am willing to listen, for now.

I just. Fucked up. [Tony's voice is soft, uncertain, because he can see that hurt in your face, Thor, and he doesn't like it, but mostly he doesn't like that he doesn't like it. That doesn't happen often and it's weirdly uncomfortable.] I wasn't thinking.

[Thor snaps at that answer, because he wants a reason, he wants a legitimate reason beyond that, and he slams a hand against the wall, pointing at him with the other hand.] You have crossed a line, Tony. I do not tolerate liars well. You should know why. [Everyone should, after knowing who his brother is.] Have you any idea what you did when you fucked up?

[Tony flinches at the sound, shoulders tensing and a frown creasing his face.] Of course I do! I may be an ass, but I'm not an idiot. [A strong case could be made arguing against that statement.]

Why would you even think about blaming this on Natasha? There is no honour in crawling away from your mistakes and not facing them like a man. [He scoffs and backs off, crossing his arms, but the hurt is even more evident on his face.] Perhaps that is asking too much of a Midgardian.

Because I panicked, okay! [He snorts.] There's not a lot of honor in most of the things I do. [Tony stays back against the wall, feeling small. Thor's hitting him right where it hurts - where it shouldn't hurt, normally, but Thor just has that way of digging his claws into parts of Tony he doesn't like to acknowledge.] Hey, don't bring the rest of my, uh, species into this. I'm not a good representative of Midgardian...ness.

You could have said after, you could have come clean. You are simply lucky I have yet to speak to Natasha. [If he'd seen her before speaking to Loki, he would have blamed her for everything, and he knows now that she might have gone about things without them, but she wouldn't stoop that low, he hopes.] I have met decent, honest, good mortals. I do not know if you are any of that any longer, Tony. [He shakes his head a little and turns away, pausing a moment.] Know this; I am your ally for as long as I need to be, and your friend because I do not abandon those I care for, but do not expect me to trust you for some time.

I know, I know, I just didn't want - [He shuts his mouth and looks away, refusing to meet Thor's gaze.] You shouldn't have trusted me from the beginning. [Tony feels like an 'I told you so' is appropriate here, only not really because he'll probably be punched.]

You didn't want what? [He shakes his head a little bit.] No, I chose to trust you because I still believe you are a good man, even if you are a fool and need to learn how to silence yourself. [He sighs heavily. Tony, why did you say that? Now, Thor can't help but feel guilty too.] Have you told him anything else you should not have?

[He doesn't want to say it because it sounds silly and childish and it's way too late for it anyway, but he might as well. He can't really make himself feel any more like shit.] I didn't want you to be mad at me. [Good job with that, eh Tony. He shakes his head.] Not that I know of.

[Thor leans back against the wall, scrubbing at his face with a hand for a moment, a rare show of weakness in front of someone he still trusts, even if he wants to kick himself for still trusting Tony. Dropping his hands, he looks up at Tony from under his hair.] What is done is done. For now, you are forgiven. I have enough to deal with without pushing away one of the few mortals that means something to me.
