Assassin Hideout | Action | Business As Usual

[ Ezio and Desmond stand together, in the Hideout, with the Assassin symbol on the wall behind them. He casts a glance towards his desk, where the Apple of Eden is hidden, then nods once to his descendant. ]

Buongiorno, Assassini. Desmond and I have things we must speak with you all about. Tasks to assign. [ He looks to Desmond. He can recount ( Read more... )

[Ezio just leans against the wall once he's done talking, and lets himself be open for questions, sure there will be plenty. It makes no sense to anyone who hasn't lived it, he supposes. A hell only he and Desmond understand. It is only fair for them to have questions, but having a name for the enemies they face is enough. Templar is just a word, after all.

So he waits, patiently, for any questions that might come.]

Si, like this. [He chuckles a little bit and pats her arm.] I will teach you. I want to know you are safe.

[He uses the teleporter, and the minute he breathes the air in Vaid it makes him cough a little bit. Grimacing, he pulls up the scarf he wears around his neck to cover his mouth.] Do you have something to cover your mouth, bella?

You're so busy though runnin' the den an' keepin' up with how all the recruits are doin'. [ But honestly, if he commanded something or flat out said this is how it'll be she's going with it.

As soon as she gets through to Vaid she's covering her mouth with her hand, eyes wide as she looks around them. It takes a moment before she gets the question. ] Just my hand. I can try an' pull my shirt up? [ But it's definitely not the best option for that. ]

It is not too much for me to teach you to protect yourself, Kaylee.

[But more pressing matters are at hand and Ezio pulls his scarf from around his neck, reaching to wrap it around her instead. He loops it around over her mouth and nose loosely, and then once over her head like a headscarf, tucking it into itself.] I am old, and already ill. You need your health.

[ Forget answering that that's what he thinks just because he hasn't seen her in action yet (though he could just ask Desmond for a full description of just how much work she really needs). She's taken by surprise as he wraps her up in his scarf.

She just blinks at him. Frowning is a bit pointless now. ] Well what 'bout you? Ya need somethin'. [ Don't make her undo your work Ezio and cut up your scarf somehow :| ]

I am fine. My health is already poor, cara. But... ah, do not tell Desmond that, si? [He'd rather not have to be fretted over. He knows he is old, broken, and unwell. He knows the worst of flues could kill him if he's not careful, because he has had the poor healthcare the Renaissance period offers, but he cannot risk letting Kaylee get sick. She's under his protection.

So he just sneaks a kiss to her forehead, like she is a daughter to him, and begins to lead the way. Don't you dare cut that scarf, missy. B(]

Wha- ... but you're real strong. One of the strongest I know. ... 's not right. [ She's definitely not taking this all that well. But ... he's Ezio. He's like Mal and even Jayne. Strong. It's hard to think of him as sick somehow. But eventually she gives a little nod. She won't tell. Obviously he didn't want folks to know.

She bites her lower lip when he gives her a kiss and just watches him lead several paces before moving to fall in step close behind him. Fine, no scarf cutting :| ]

I am old, Kaylee. It does not seem like an old age to the modern world, but for my time, and my lifestyle, I am lucky to have lived this long. [He gives her a gentle squeeze on the shoulder before walking. He knows this is tough but he wants her to know that he's okay with it, for now. He's a little ill, not dying, just yet.

Whether he handles death gracefully or not is another thing altogether.

But he looks around this city as he walks, frowning at the mess it is. It's like everything just stopped, suddenly.] This city does not bode well for Aliunde.

Ya ain't that old. [ Hmpf. Old. And she'll keep saying to him and anyone else that Ezio isn't old. He's like Book, obviously at an age that if he were a grandpa it wouldn't surprise a single soul. But she doesn't think 'oooold'.

Thinking 'old' leads to other thoughts of people leaving for good. And she doesn't want to think of that.

As they walk her head keeps turning to see something else, like she's trying to take it ALL in at once. But then she looks up instead. ] I can't see through the haze but ... maybe the machine protectin' the city failed. But somethin' that important's gotta have back-ups.

[He doesn't argue. Sometimes, he feels like he's twenty-five years too late in life. It's just something he has learned to get used to now.

Nodding to her words, he gestures towards the sky faintly.] Si, you are right, I think. There must have been a barrier, like the one in Aliunde. I have heard word of a gas just as toxic as this air being just outside the one that protects Aliunde. If that barrier breaks, we may all die as the people here did.

[But he looks over at her.] What do you seek, cara? I can help you collect things.

[ She squints at it. But nope. Still can't see through the haze to see if the sky has the same sort of look and feel as Aliunde or not. ] 's what I've heard too. Terraformin' couldn't cover the whole planet proper so they bubbled up what stuck an' built a city in it. [ She glances at him. ] I don't think it'd happen real super quick ... might be like losin' air in space on a dead ship. [ Which she does know about yes. And it shows in her eyes before she rips herself away from that memory. ]

Anythin' we can carry. 's hard to tell just lookin' at buildings if they got the same sort of tech as Aliunde or if theirs ain't as advanced. We find somethin' I can use it. [ Somehow. But she is queen of making it work with Aliunde's junkyard fare. ]

The thought that perhaps all these people just fell ill, and suffocated, died from something they had no chance of avoiding... terribile.

[He nods at her suggestion that they just grab what they can, and he gives her a warm smile.] I will follow your direction, then, maestro.

lilgreasemonkey April 27 2012, 23:56:01 UTC
's really ... 's why ya can't be real careless with those terraformin' machines. Or whatever's keepin' that air out of the city. [ Atmo regulators? Well ... whatever they're called. ] Ya just can't.

[ She goes a bit pink under his scarf. Maestro - sounds important! ] Well how 'bout we try ... [ She looks around again before pointing off ahead and to the left of them. ] that way first. [ Her Techie Senses are tingling. Let's go! /o/ ]

I will take your word for it. [All he knows is that there's a barrier and it stops things from going out of Aliunde, but at the same time it is stopping things from harming them, like the poor atmosphere outside it.

Nodding to her, he follows after her as she leads the way, smiling to himself at how cheerful she always is. He can never be very unhappy with her around.] If you see something you want, say and I will help you get it.

[ She nods, still leading the way. After a few minutes she spots a rusted hulk of something on the road and starts trotting toward it. It's ... OH IT'S THE MOST EXCITING THING SHE'S SEEN SO FAR! Her mouth might be covered but it's fairly obvious she's grinning ear to ear. ] Ezio they used vehicles here! [ EEEEE! It's a parts jackpot. ]

[He follows her as she heads for that thing, only aware it's a lump of metal that vaguely resembles a carriage. He chuckles at her excitement and nods a little bit, tilting his head at it. It's so strange to look at.] What kind of vehicle is this? I only know of carriages on land.
