New Test Release

Oct 29, 2001 23:22

For those of you interested in using AliveJournal with servers other than livejournal.com, check out this test release and let me know how it works for you...

Go to the File->Settings from the login box and change the server name to your preferred server... It defaults to www.livejournal.com, but www.deadjournal.com works like a champ (for me).

Going to the account manager kills the program, pretty much like it used to do.

All those problems with the last version were caused by me compiling everything under BONE as opposed to net_server... That is why it worked for a handful of people (those with BONE) and no-one else.

The latest released version works fine for me under both net_server and BONE. The same should be true for everyone..

I haven't tried it, nor do I know when I will try it under Dano... I don't know how interested I am in making my application work under such a dubious version of the OS.

But, that said, you should be able to recompile and in theory things might work better... I have heard that there is a new version of the Makefile Engine in 5.1d0, so you might have to play around with the Makefile a bit... Other than that it should compile OOTB.
