AliveJournal with UTF-8 Support

Apr 23, 2002 10:56

Sergei Dolgov was kind enough to modify AliveJournal to support LiveJournal's new UTF-8 encoding. For now, you can grab a binary here, but I will roll his changes back into the main code as soon as I get some free time. :)

Sorry for my lack of attention to this client, but the programming that pays the bills takes precedence. :) In addition, I ( Read more... )

I'm sorry to hear that you can't work in BeOS too much lately. There are lots of exciting projects that's making it viable once again (take a look at http://beosimkit.sourceforge.net/ for something that blows Trillian out of the water)

I'm not the greatest at coding, but I'll look at the source and try to make some changes and send them your way. If I have some simple feature requests, can I request them here?

Namely, in the preferences, an "autologin" function and Alivejournal being a deskbar program so you can just click the icon to bring up the post window. And also Preferences being saved to automatically detect current music, etc rather than having to go into post options every time.

Unfortunately, BeOS is no longer viable at all to me; It won't boot on my hardware any more... If I fiddled with it for a few hours/days I might be able to get it to boot, but the interest in supporting a dead operating system is not there... I was an Amiga user long past their prime and have no interest in repeating that mistake...

I would love for BeOS to become a viable platform again, but I just don't see it (especially given the completely disarray the community is in). I'm sad to give it up, don't get me wrong, I gave a good chunk of my life to the OS (BeNews, BUGGER, etc), but I don't want to waste anymore time on a platform that is going nowhere... If it booted on my machine, it would probably have a chance, but since it doesn't, it's over.

*pokes you with an OOGLY SHTICK!*
Dude. Take the time to make it work. Or even better yet, tell me what don't work and I'll bludgeon it until I can make it work for you. BeOS is dead, yes... but the community is merely sleeping. The many attempts to recreate Old Faithful (BeOS) are progressing quite nicely.
It's all still there... just slumbering. The Giant will reawaken soon!

Okay, yeah. Just reinstall it, dude. ;-)
Besides, AliveJournal ROCKS, and we can barely afford to lose another kickass developer. Pwease? =)
