All you need is your college email address (it must have your college name as the provider, e.g.: aranden@harvard.edu)
Just go to "register," then enter your name, email address, status (it gives you choices), and pick a password. Click Register Now. Then you're in - easy
Once you have a facebook account, you can "request" to be friends with people and it kind of makes you part of the system for everyone at your college, plus whoever you choose to be friends with from other schools.
