Stargazer make-up is no longer Vegetarian friendly

Mar 21, 2011 12:13

I emailed them the other day to ask whether their products were still Vegetarian friendly as their website was recently updated to say that they were no longer Vegan friendly. The email conversation is copied below:

From: Me
To: StargazerHello there, I wonder if you might be able to send me a list of ingredients for your products, or even just a ( Read more... )

Stargazer make-up is crap anyway. Their nail polishes chip, the lipsticks are way too dry, the eye shadows aren't bright enough when applied and crumble easily... the foundations crumble EVERYWHERE... so, in summary, they suck :p

The only product of theirs I use is the white powder, for highlighting under cheekbones etc when doing goth makeup (I don't have the patience for the full on gothic geisha white-out anymore!). Eyeshadows, nail polishes etc I stick with Barry M for - who don't do animal testing: http://www.barrym.com/info/animal-friendly.asp

Mmm, yeah I love Barry M; practically all my eyeshadows are from them. But they don't do foundation and I'm not a big fan of their eye/lip liners. looks like I'll be investing (and it is an investment!) in some Urban Decay make-up shortly...

I suspect they're scared of litigation if something creeps into the supply chain that shouldn't, and someone decides to sue them. Which is a shame.

It is a shame, especially as it'll lose them customers. I don't understand why they don't just control their supply lines a bit better so that they can know for sure; it'll make them more money in the long run...

Ick :-/

I use MAC, which is entirely vegan, as I tend to be allergic to Stargazer. It's pricey but such good quality and lasts forever!

Also, didn't know you've gone veggie :) Welcome to the club!

The replies are a bit 'we can't be bothered to talk to you so we'll say whatever is necessary to shut you up'... Which is crap. I wouldn't be surprised if you did find they were vegetarian friendly on the majority of products if you did do the research.

I wonder if someone picked a hole in their veganness and they's just gone to making no claims at all for simplicity.

Ps Talked to Dvae today - you should have come and bounced us for lunch on saturday!!!

It is a bit crap isn't it? I think you're probably right about the holes being picked; I just wish they'd be honest about it on their website rather than just saying 'we're not Vegan'. If Barry M and Urban decay can list their ingredients to allow people to make informed decisions, I really don't understand why Stargazer; whom many people have know as Vegan for years, can't do the same...

We would have dropped in for lunch on Saturday if Dvae hadn't said (and I quote), "we don't really have time to" when I suggested it...
