New Brunswick is beautiful, and the people are very friendly. It would be nice to be so close to the border as well. Not too sure about the job situation and whatnot, but I've been there a few times, and it was very nice for a visit. Why?
I lived there for school (Rothesay and Sackville) and quite enjoyed myself. What sort of things would you like to know? It resembles Maine in some respects especially closer to the US border.
Interesting facts time... - It is Canada's only bilingual province - It has Atlantic Canada's only nuclear power generating station - There is a giant lobster in Shediac - There are lots of covered bridges there - The chocolate bar was invited there
Well, if our current visa problems persist, I may have to take up my option of getting my Canadian work visa and live/work there for next year. Joe will prob be in Easport, ME, so we'll be close. I don't know if/how it'll work, but it's an option.
We have been told it was the armpit of Canada, but it's good to hear some nice things about it.
well i reckon what you have been told isn't too far off...but I mean that in the nicest way possible. If you are looking to live a nice small town, relaxed atmosphere; then sure New Brunswick close to the border is perfect. There are not really any large cities within an hour of the border. So if you want city living Maine, New Brunswick etc isn't your area anyway! But judging on what you mentioned about Tasmania, then maybe the rural life is a welcome change of pace.......
I quite frequently cross the border to travel at St. Stephen NB, & Calais ME. It's not too shabby, friendly people, and there is even a local border crossing so you don't have to wait in the long tourist lines! St. Stephen is a cute little border town, close to the Bay of Fundy (highest tides in the world!!)
Yeh, small town life is where it's at for me in the next couple of years I reckon. I think I'd like to wok in a book store. Is there a book store in St Stephen?!
