OOC: Of Fate and Prophecy

The soft lapping of water against the wooden hull of a ship greeted him as he awoke from darkness. A ship he thought, I shouldn't be on a ship. And yet there he was, clearly as he opened his keen eyes to peer around in the darkness. Crates stacked high, a large rat sniffing around not far from him. Perhaps he'd climbed aboard in search of something shiny to take home, whatever had brought him there, however, was forgotten. Now it was time to go home. He climbed to his feet and made his way cautiously up the ladder onto the deck, surprisingly finding no one on his way. He could barely even smell the presence of others, it was almost as though the ship had been abandoned for a long time.

He perked his ears, listening intently but the only sounds were of the water, and gulls far above. Silently he made his way across the deck to discover that the ship was stuck on a sand bank under the water. Though he did not relish the thought, land was not far away and staying aboard an empty ship seemed a silly thing to do. But first he made a point of searching the cabin where he found a very nice fork he felt he needed to take with him, and a bow and some arrows. Grinning now to himself at his good fortune he left the deck to leap into the water and swim to shore. The swim very quickly turned treacherous as the shore seemed to be forever out of reach and the sky growing steadily darker, then a deep blood red.

He began to feel fear, for water was not the home of a Khajiit, he did not know the name of his home but he knew it was a desert and he should not be out swimming, he also knew that the sky should not be so red and vicious looking. Determinedly he continued to swim for there was nothing else to do, be washed out to sea or keep trying? Harder and harder he struggled against the water until he realized that the land wasn't moving away, he was. He turned to see what was dragging him away from the shore only to discover massive spikes jutting from the sea, and between those spikes what appeared to be a gateway filled with fire. Panicking now he tried desperately to swim away from this gate as it continued to pull him in, but the effort was futile.

Before he knew it he found himself laying on freshly cooled volcanic rock near a sea of fire and magma. Immediately sensing that there was nothing but death and danger in this place he leaped to his feet glancing around, the bright light from the endless fires stinging his eyes and the putrid sulfuric smell of the place his nose. A hiss from behind alerted him and without even fully looking he whirled around and launched an arrow, fortunately his aim was true and a large reptilian creature fell at his feet, his arrow sticking from its neck. He plucked it out, checked for his fork, and began to sneak along the rocky path in search of any indication of where to go.

It wasn't long into his exploration before he spotted more strange creatures again, small almost rat-like humanoids with long wicked teeth that smelled more putrid than death wandering about and chittering to themselves. He drew back his bowstring and suddenly... Darkness.

In the darkness a voice came to him, an elder man's voice, not Khajiit but Imperial: "You are the one from my dreams... Then, the stars were right.

Close the jaws of Oblivion..."
