You know, I've realized something. I rely on every-freaking-one else to determine my musical tastes for me. Most especially the people I respect, the people who have a "developed" taste in music, to which they are (sometimes fanatically) dedicated. No more. workouts are good. guster...meh. the faint is universally respected, and made their name first as cerebral-electronic-pop in unregistered venues in somerville, ma. rep it, son. stata ctr is lovely, i agree. "college-kid" music is fine by me. the best bet is: agree that every genre has objectively great music. accept that your "tastes" mean you prefer mediocre rock, for example, to great country, to example. but that's taste, and the country artist may be better objectively. dismissing an entire genre of music, like "pop" "contemporary" "country" or "hip-hop" is the only arrogant mistake in musical taste. i think. seriously, though. nirvana. ... seriously.
