I haven't been to this castle, so thanks so much for the photos. There seems to be quite a bit of it left. Just how far north is it? If it's not too far, maybe I can fit it in next time.
Thanks! It is a complete castle, principally because it is still lived in by the Percy family. They live there over the winter, so the State Rooms are closed then, if you go. It is pretty far north, about 30 miles from the Scottish border, maybe 60 from Edinburgh.
It is well worth going. A bit expensive to get in, but there is loads to do and look at, take a picnic, and you can easily spend several hours there. The town of Alnwick is a lovely old market town and there is plenty to look at there too.
