For general Norse pantheon I like H. R. Ellis Davidson.
For starters I recommend Gods and Myths of Northern Europe, but pretty much anything by her is a worthwhile read.

Welcome!

Start with the basics and acquire the Poetic and Prose Eddas of which there are many translations available. . .some free online. Read them, read them again and keep rereading, until you know them by heart. You then can move on to other lore sources such as the sagas and epic treatments, various histories, and compilations within the folklore category. With a foundation of basic lore you then will be amply armed to wade through the heaps of garbage out there that passes off as heathenry.

For some basics concerning our way, I recommend the HT website http://www.heathenthing.org/ . There is enough no-nonsense information there to get you started before you start sinking your money into the plethora of modern and dubious texts. Forewarned is forearmed.

This functions more as a reference tool more than anything else, but Rudolf Simek's Dictionary of Northern Mythology is incredibly helpful. I second the recommendation of the Poetic & Prose Eddas. The Sagas (Volsungasaga, Erik the Red's Saga, Saga of the Nibelungs...) & Beowulf.

And for modern practice/ideas, I would recommend Essential Asatru by Diana Paxson.
