Become one with the surface streets in LA. Some freeways are good, some are ok, some are HORRIBLE. Specifically, avoid the 405, 10, & 110 at all costs. Especially during the daylight hours. Even at night (after 9pm) I think twice about taking the 110 or the 10. There's been a lot of construction lately at night.
For instance; Google Maps says I should take this route from work (A) to home (B): http://tinyurl.com/5fg7e4 21.5 Miles, 27 Minutes (up to 1 hour, 10 minutes in traffic)
But this is the route I actually take: http://tinyurl.com/6p2b3e 15.2 miles, 31 Minutes.
Good Luck! (ps, feel better)
